Don't feel bad, they are wiley little reptiles. We had some in our room in Mexico. It took Uncle Jeff awhile to get the noisy one out. Even then he didn't catch it, he just shooed it outside.
Now crabs were much easier to catch. Once you lure them into the trash can they can't climb back out. So they were easy to catch and dump.

We had one in our bathroom. His name was Reggie. The cats wouldn't even bother him and Mr X had trouble catching him in the dustpan. Lol. We should have saved him for you!
